Prequalifications and Requirements
To be a Recreational Therapy intern with Assisted Independence, you must submit proof of the following requirements and documents:
- Application via website at www.assistedindependence.care/careers
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- First Aid Certification
- Negative Tuberculin Skin Test
- Proof of Professional Liability Insurance
- 18 credit hours earned in collegiate study of therapeutic recreation
Additionally, Recreational Therapy Interns must meet the following criteria prior to internship.
- Free of Felony Convictions
- Inspector General’s Exclusion from Federally Funded Healthcare Organization
All Recreational Therapy Interns assisting in supports for individuals shall meet the following requirements:
- Be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Demonstrate an interest in and empathy for individuals
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate adequately in order to:
- Complete required forms and reports of visits; and follow oral or written instructions.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide services according to the individual’s PCISP (Person-Centered Individualized Support Plan).
- Demonstrate willingness to accept supervision
